Discover more about Tokyo Station Gallery

The Tokyo Station Gallery, established in 1988, resides within the iconic red-brick Marunouchi building of Tokyo Station. Designed by architect Tatsuno Kingo, the station blends Western neo-Baroque influences with Japanese design. The gallery itself is known for its brick-walled exhibition rooms that expose the station's original structure. The gallery temporarily closed in 2006 for station restoration and reopened in 2012. Today, it hosts approximately five exhibitions annually, focusing on modern art, railway history, architecture, and design. The gallery aims to connect people through art, offering a unique cultural experience within a transportation hub. Visitors can view the transition between the original and restored structures in the staircase area, observing the different wall materials on the third floor. The stained glass and chandelier in the staircase have been in use since the gallery opened in 1988 and were relocated from the gallery's previous location.
