Getting There

  • Subway

    Start at Shinjuku Station, which is a major transport hub in Tokyo. From the station, follow the signs to the Marunouchi Line (red line) and board a train heading towards Ogikubo. After 4 stops, get off at Akebonobashi Station. Once you exit the station, turn left and walk straight for about 10 minutes. You will need to cross a few streets, so keep an eye on the traffic lights. Continue walking until you reach Yokoteramachi; Hokokuji will be on your right.

    From Shinjuku Station, head to the bus terminal located on the west side of the station. Look for the bus stop for the Toei Bus line. Take the bus number 88, which is heading towards Sangenjaya. After about 15 minutes, get off at the 'Yokoteramachi' bus stop. From there, walk a short distance to Hokokuji, which should be visible as you approach.
