Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from Wakasa, take Route 27 towards Miyazu. After approximately 1 hour of driving (about 45 km), you will arrive at the Monju area in Miyazu where Amanohashidate is located. Follow the signs for Amanohashidate once you reach Miyazu. There are parking facilities available near the Amanohashidate area, but note that parking may incur a fee, typically around 500 to 1,000 yen depending on the location.

  • Public Transportation - Train

    From Wakasa, head to the nearest train station, preferably the Fukui Station. Take the JR Hokuriku Line to Tsuruga Station. From Tsuruga Station, transfer to the JR Kosei Line towards Maibara and get off at Miyazu Station. The entire train journey will take approximately 2 hours. Upon arrival at Miyazu Station, take a local bus or a taxi to Amanohashidate, which is about a 10-minute ride away. Bus fare will be around 300 yen, while a taxi may cost around 1,500 yen.

  • Public Transportation - Bus

    Alternatively, you can take a highway bus from Fukui or Tsuruga directly to Amanohashidate. Check the local bus schedules for times, as they may vary. The bus fare from Fukui to Amanohashidate is approximately 2,000 yen and takes about 2.5 hours. From the bus stop, walk towards the Amanohashidate Scenic Area, which is clearly signposted.
