Car
If you are driving from the center of Balqa Highlands, take the main highway (King's Highway - Route 35) heading south towards Wadi Musa. The drive will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Once you reach Wadi Musa, follow the signs to Petra. Enter Petra through the main entrance, where you will need to pay an entrance fee (around 50 JOD for a one-day visit). After entering, park your car in the designated parking area. From the parking lot, walk towards the visitor center, and then follow the signs to Al-Siq, which is a walking path that leads to the site.
Public Transportation
To reach Al-Siq using public transportation, you can take a bus from Amman to Wadi Musa. Buses leave regularly from the South Bus Station in Amman and the journey takes about 3-4 hours (costing around 7-10 JOD). Upon arriving in Wadi Musa, you can take a taxi to the Petra entrance (approximately 5 JOD). Once at the Petra entrance, you will need to purchase a ticket (approximately 50 JOD for a one-day visit), then walk to the visitor center and follow the signs to Al-Siq.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Balqa Highlands to Wadi Musa. The fare will vary, but it is typically around 50-70 JOD, depending on negotiation and specific pick-up location. Once in Wadi Musa, have the taxi drop you at the Petra entrance. You will still need to pay the entrance fee (around 50 JOD) and walk to Al-Siq from there.
