From the Dana Biosphere Reserve Visitor Center, head south on the main trail for about 1 kilometer until you reach the first fork. Take the left path which leads towards Uum Sayhoun. Continue on this path for approximately 1.5 kilometers, enjoying the scenic views. You'll reach a sign pointing towards the Back Door hiking route to the Monastery. Follow this sign and continue uphill for about 500 meters until you arrive at the starting point of the hiking route.

If you are starting from the Dana Village, exit the village and follow the main road heading southeast. After about 600 meters, you will see a path leading down towards Uum Sayhoun. Follow this path for about 1 kilometer. When you reach the junction, turn right and continue for another 800 meters until you reach the point where the Back Door hiking route starts. Look for the sign indicating the hiking trail.
