Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from the Dead Sea region, start by taking the Dead Sea road (Route 65) heading north. Continue on this road for about 20 kilometers until you reach the junction with Route 40. Turn left onto Route 40 and continue for approximately 30 kilometers. As you approach Amman, follow the signs for 'Downtown' and 'Al-Balad'. You will merge onto King Abdullah II Street, which leads directly into the city center. Once you reach the city, follow the signs for 'Amman Citadel' and park at one of the nearby parking lots. Please note that parking may incur a fee of around 1-2 JOD.

  • Public Transportation - Bus

    From the Dead Sea region, head to the nearest bus station, which is usually located in Madaba or any nearby town. Look for buses heading to Amman. These buses typically cost around 3-5 JOD and take about 1-1.5 hours to reach Amman. Once in Amman, disembark at the main bus station in the city center. From there, you can either walk to the Citadel, which is about a 20-minute walk uphill, or take a taxi for around 3-5 JOD. Taxis are readily available outside the bus station.

  • Public Transportation - Taxi

    If you prefer not to take the bus, you can hire a taxi directly from your location in the Dead Sea region. The journey will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour, and you should negotiate the fare beforehand. Expect to pay around 30-50 JOD depending on your exact starting point. The taxi will take you directly to the Amman Citadel. Ensure that you have cash on hand, as not all taxis accept credit cards.
