Car
If you are traveling by car from any location in the Eastern Highlands, first locate the nearest major road, typically the Desert Highway (Highway 15) or the King's Highway (Highway 35). From Amman, take the Desert Highway south towards Aqaba. After approximately 3 hours (around 300 km), look for signs directing you to 'Wadi Rum'. Exit onto Road 15 and follow the signs leading to Wadi Rum Village. You will enter the village and can park your car at designated areas. Note that there is an entrance fee to Wadi Rum, which is around 5 JOD per person.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a bus from Amman to Aqaba. The South Bus Station (Abdali Bus Station) in Amman has daily departures. The journey takes about 4-5 hours, and tickets cost around 7-10 JOD. Upon arrival in Aqaba, you can catch a local minibus or taxi to Wadi Rum Village, which is approximately 70 km away and costs around 10 JOD. Once in Wadi Rum Village, you will find options for guided tours or transportation to explore the desert.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from either Amman or Aqaba to Wadi Rum Village. The taxi ride from Amman will take approximately 4 hours and cost around 70-100 JOD depending on negotiations. From Aqaba, the taxi ride will take around 1 hour and cost approximately 30-40 JOD. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your journey.
Tour Packages
Consider booking a tour package that includes transportation from Amman or Aqaba to Wadi Rum. Many companies offer packages that cover transportation, guided tours, and accommodation.
