Getting There

Public Bus
From the center of Kerak, head to the main bus station located near Al-Hussein Mosque. Look for a bus marked for Umm ar-Rasas or one heading towards Madaba. Buses usually depart every hour. The ride should take about 30-40 minutes. After arriving at the Umm ar-Rasas bus stop, you will need to walk approximately 20 minutes to the Fortress. Head east on the main road, and you will see signs directing you to the old Roman city.

Taxi
You can easily find a taxi from anywhere in Kerak. Simply ask the driver to take you to Umm ar-Rasas. The journey will take around 20-25 minutes. Make sure to agree on a fare before you start the trip, as taxis in Jordan often do not use meters. Upon arrival, the Fortress of Umm ar-Rasas will be visible from the main road.

Walking
If you are feeling adventurous and enjoy walking, you can set off from the center of Kerak towards Umm ar-Rasas. The distance is approximately 10 kilometers, and it will take around 2 hours. Start by heading southeast on the main road, following the signs to Umm ar-Rasas. Ensure to stay hydrated and wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain can be uneven.
