Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you are traveling by car from Ma'an Plateau to Amman Citadel, head north on the Desert Highway (Route 15). This is the main route that connects you to Amman. Follow the signs for Amman and continue for about 2 hours (approximately 200 km). Once you reach Amman, take the exit toward Al-Jubaiha and follow the signs for the city center. As you approach the city, the Citadel will be on your right. You can park in the designated parking areas nearby.
Public Transportation
To reach Amman Citadel using public transportation, first, take a bus from Ma'an to Amman. Buses frequently leave from the Ma'an Bus Station. The journey takes around 2-3 hours, depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the Abdali Bus Station in Amman, you can take a taxi or a local bus to the Citadel. If taking a taxi, simply tell the driver 'Amman Citadel' (قلعة عمان). For a local bus, you can look for bus routes heading towards the downtown area. The Citadel is a short walk from the nearest bus stop.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can take a taxi from Ma'an directly to Amman Citadel. This option is more expensive than public transport but offers convenience. The taxi ride will take around 2 hours and may cost around 50-70 Jordanian Dinars. Ensure you agree on the fare before starting your journey.
