Getting There

Walking
From the Visitor Center in Petra, start by heading towards the main paved pathway leading into the ancient city. As you walk, follow the signs towards the Siq, which is the canyon that leads to the Treasury. Once at the Treasury, continue to explore the area while keeping an eye on the signs for the Monastery (Ad-Deir). After visiting the Treasury, retrace your steps back to the main path and look for the trail that leads to the Monastery. This trail is marked and begins just after the Treasury, on the right side of the path. The hike to the Monastery is about 800 steps up a steep incline and will take around 30-45 minutes depending on your pace. Enjoy the scenic views along the way!

Once you reach the top of the steps, you will finally arrive at the Monastery, also known as Ad-Deir. Take some time to enjoy the stunning architecture and the panoramic views.
