Walking
From the center of Umm Qais, start at the Umm Qais Archaeological Site. Head northwest on the main path leading out of the site. Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers, following the signs for Capernaum. You will pass through some beautiful landscapes and may spot local flora and fauna. Keep walking until you reach the junction at the end of the path, then turn left. Capernaum is about 500 meters ahead. Look for the historical markers that indicate you are getting closer to the site.
Bicycle
If you have access to a bicycle, you can rent one in Umm Qais. Start at the main square near the visitor center and head northwest towards the main road. Follow the road for about 2 kilometers until you reach the sign for Capernaum. Make a left turn and continue straight for another kilometer. You’ll see the Capernaum entrance on your right. Cycling allows you to enjoy the scenic views along the way.
Local Bus
From Umm Qais, locate the bus stop near the town center. Take a local bus heading towards the Capernaum area. Buses run every 30 minutes, and the fare is inexpensive. Inform the driver that you are heading to Capernaum. The bus will drop you off at the main entrance, which is a short walk from the site itself. Make sure to check the return bus times to plan your visit accordingly.
