If you're traveling by car, start by heading to Kansas City, KS. From the city center, take I-70 W. Merge onto I-670 W towards I-70 W. Then merge onto I-70 W and take exit 410A for I-635 S towards Kansas City. Continue on I-635 S for about 3 miles. Take exit 11B for I-70 W towards Topeka. After about 1 mile, take exit 410B for 78th St. Go south on 78th St for about 2 miles, and Grinter Place State Historic Site will be on your left at 1420 S 78 St, Kansas City, KS 66111.

In Kansas City, you can use the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) buses. Check the KCATA website for the nearest bus stop. Once at the hub, you can take the Metro bus route that goes towards the 78th Street area. The closest bus stop to Grinter Place is at 78th St & State Ave. From there, it’s a short walk (about 0.5 miles) to the historic site at 1420 S 78 St. Note that public transport may involve transfers, depending on your starting point.
