From anywhere in Southeast Kansas, take US-400 west towards El Dorado. Merge onto I-35 north and continue driving until you reach the junction with I-70. Take I-70 west towards Topeka. Merge onto I-470 south, which will take you around Topeka. Continue on I-470 until it merges back into I-70. Follow I-70 west until you reach the exit for I-635 north toward Kansas City. Continue on I-635, which will take you into downtown Kansas City. Follow signs for US-169 south, and then merge onto MO-150 east. Finally, take the exit for 39th St/Belleview Ave. Turn left onto Belleview Ave, and the Thomas Hart Benton Home and Studio will be on your right at 3616 Belleview Ave, Kansas City, MO 64111.

Once in Kansas City, you can transfer to the local bus system (KCATA). Take the MAX Bus (Main Street MAX) heading south and get off at 39th Street.
