Getting There

Car
If you're driving, start by navigating to the city of Tamgaly, which is approximately 40 km northeast of Almaty. From Almaty, take the A2 highway towards Taldykorgan. After about 30 km, take the exit toward the A3 road. Follow the A3 for approximately 70 km until you reach Tamgaly. Once in Tamgaly, look for road signs directing you to Tanbaly, which is located at RG4Q+MJC. There is ample parking available near the site.

Public Transportation
To reach Tanbaly via public transportation, start your journey from Almaty. Take a bus or a minibus (marshrutka) from the central bus station to Tamgaly. The journey takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. Upon arrival at Tamgaly, you may need to take a taxi to the Tanbaly petroglyphs site, which is about 10 km from the bus stop. The taxi fare should be around 1,500 to 2,000 KZT. Always confirm the fare before starting your ride.
