Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, head towards the Charyn Canyon National Park entrance. From the entrance, follow the signs towards the main canyon viewpoint. Continue along the main road until you reach a fork; take the right fork towards Tamerlik. Continue straight for about 5 kilometers, and then keep an eye out for signs indicating Kan'on. The coordinates for Kan'on are approximately 43.3640486 latitude and 79.1080642 longitude. There are no entry fees specifically for Kan'on, but you may need to pay for parking at the canyon entrance.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Kan'on via public transportation, you will first need to get to the nearest town, which is Taldykorgan. From Taldykorgan, take a marshrutka (shared taxi) heading to Charyn Canyon. Once you arrive at the canyon entrance, you can either walk (approximately 10 km) or hire a local taxi to take you to Kan'on. Make sure to negotiate the taxi fare beforehand; expect to pay around 2000-3000 KZT for the short ride to Kan'on. It's advisable to arrange for the taxi to pick you up for your return trip.

• Hiking

  If you're feeling adventurous and prefer a hiking option, start from the main viewing point of Charyn Canyon. Follow the marked trails that lead you towards Tamerlik. The hike is roughly 8 km and will take about 2 to 3 hours depending on your pace. Make sure to carry enough water and wear appropriate hiking gear. Once you reach Tamerlik, you can ask locals for directions to Kan'on, which is about a 30-minute walk from the village.
