Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the city of Almaty, Kazakhstan. Head east on the A2 highway towards the border with Kyrgyzstan. After crossing the border, continue on the A365 road towards Kizilsu Kyrgyz Autonomous Prefecture. Follow signs for Akqi County. Once in Akqi County, navigate towards the Kizilsu region, where Tianshan Nanmai is located. The last stretch may require a 4WD vehicle as the roads can be rough. Ensure you have a GPS device or a reliable map, as signal may be weak in remote areas.

• Public Transportation

  For public transportation, take a bus from Almaty to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The journey takes about 4-5 hours and costs approximately 1,500 KZT (around $3.50). Once in Bishkek, you can catch a minibus to Osh, which will take about 8-10 hours and costs around 500 KZT (approximately $1.20). From Osh, take a local taxi or minibus towards Kizilsu Kyrgyz Autonomous Prefecture. Be prepared for additional travel time as local transportation may not follow a strict schedule. Confirm with locals for the best drop-off point to access Tianshan Nanmai.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, consider hiring a taxi from Bishkek to Tianshan Nanmai. This can be arranged through your hotel or local taxi services. The trip can take around 12-14 hours depending on road conditions and costs between $100 to $150. Ensure to agree on the fare before starting your journey. A taxi offers the flexibility of stopping along the way for food and rest.
