Car
If you are driving, head towards Turgen Gorge from Almaty, which is approximately a 1.5-2 hour drive. From Almaty, take the A-2 highway towards the town of Turgen. Once you reach the Turgen village, follow the signs towards the gorge. Continue along the main road until you reach the parking area for Bear Waterfall, located at coordinates 43.0843926, 76.9433177. Park your car here, and you will need to hike to the waterfall.
Public Transportation
To reach Bear Waterfall using public transportation, take a bus or a marshrutka (minibus) from Almaty to Turgen village. Buses leave from the Sayran bus station in Almaty and the journey takes about 1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Turgen, you will need to take a taxi or arrange a local ride to the parking area near the waterfall. The taxi ride may cost around 1000-2000 KZT. From the parking area, begin your hike to Bear Waterfall, following the marked trails.
Hiking
After parking your vehicle or getting dropped off, you will need to hike approximately 1.5 kilometers to reach Bear Waterfall. The trail can be a bit challenging at the start, but it becomes easier as you progress. Follow the well-trodden path, and be sure to enjoy the scenic views along the way. Keep an eye out for trail markers to stay on course.
