Car
If you are traveling by car, start from any location in Cumberland Plateau and navigate to US-70S W. Follow US-70S W for approximately 10 miles. After that, take the exit toward I-24 N/Chattanooga. Merge onto I-24 N and continue for about 18 miles. Then take exit 111 toward McMinnville. Merge onto US-70S E and follow the signs for McMinnville. After about 7 miles, turn right onto Cumberland Caverns Rd. Continue on Cumberland Caverns Rd for about 1 mile, and you will arrive at Cumberland Caverns, located at 1437 Cumberland Caverns Rd, McMinnville, TN 37110.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in this rural area. The closest major bus service is Greyhound, which operates routes to McMinnville. If you arrive via Greyhound, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service from the bus station to Cumberland Caverns. The distance from the Greyhound station to Cumberland Caverns is about 10 miles. Expect taxi fares to be around $20-$30, depending on traffic.
Bicycle
For those adventurous enough to bike, you can follow a similar route as the car directions. Start on US-70S W and continue for approximately 10 miles. After that, you can take the side roads leading to Cumberland Caverns Rd. Be sure to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water, as some stretches may be steep and require physical stamina.
Walking
Walking to Cumberland Caverns is not recommended due to the distance and lack of pedestrian pathways. However, if you're near Cumberland Caverns Rd, you can walk along the road directly to the caverns. Be cautious of traffic and ensure you have a safe walking route as the road can be narrow.
