Car
From any location in the Knobs Region, head towards State Route 36. If you're in Salt Lick, simply take State Route 36 East. Follow this route for approximately 10 miles until you reach the junction with State Route 127. Turn left onto State Route 127 North. Continue for about 2 miles, then turn right onto Licking River Road. You will see signs directing you to Cave Run Lake Tailwater. After a short drive along Licking River Road, you will arrive at the entrance to the tailwater area. There is no entrance fee, but be mindful of parking regulations in the area.
Public Transportation
Currently, public transportation options are limited in the Knobs Region. However, you can take a Greyhound bus to Morehead, KY, which is the nearest major transportation hub. From Morehead, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Cave Run Lake Tailwater, which is approximately 20 miles away. Expect to pay around $30-$50 for the taxi/rideshare service. Be sure to check schedules in advance, as bus services may not be frequent.
