Getting There

• Public Bus

  From Keeneland, walk to the nearest Lextran bus stop located on Versailles Road. Board the Lextran Route 1 bus towards downtown Lexington. Stay on the bus for approximately 20 minutes until you reach the Kentucky Horse Park stop. From there, it’s a short walk to the Southern Lights exhibit located within the Kentucky Horse Park Campground at 3785 Campground Rd. Please check the Lextran schedule for the exact departure times and any fare costs, which are typically around $1.75 per ride.

• Bike Rental

  For a more active approach, consider renting a bike from a local rental shop in Keeneland. Once you have your bike, head north on Versailles Road. After about 2 miles, turn left onto Iron Works Pike and follow the signs leading you to the Kentucky Horse Park. The Southern Lights exhibit is located inside the park. Note that you may encounter a small entrance fee for the park, typically around $10 for a bike entry.

• Walking

  If you enjoy walking, you can walk from Keeneland to Southern Lights. Start by heading north on Versailles Road and continue for about 2 miles. You will pass by various local shops and eateries along the way. Once you reach the Kentucky Horse Park entrance, follow the signs to the campground area where Southern Lights is located. The entire walk is approximately 40-50 minutes, so wear comfortable shoes and stay hydrated.
