Car
From the Central Highlands region, head towards Naivasha on the A104 road. The distance is approximately 90 kilometers and will take around 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Once you reach Naivasha, look for signs directing you to Hells Gate National Park. The park entrance is about 15 kilometers from Naivasha town, and you will see signs that guide you to the entrance on the road. Make sure to pay the park entrance fee of approximately 1,000 KES for adults and 500 KES for children at the gate.
Public Transportation
Take a matatu (shared taxi) from your location in Central Highlands to Naivasha. Matatus frequently depart from major towns and are an affordable option, costing around 300 KES. Once in Naivasha, you can either use a taxi or a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) to reach Hells Gate National Park which is about 15 kilometers away. The taxi or boda boda ride will cost approximately 300-500 KES, depending on the negotiation.
Combination of Car and Boda Boda
If you have access to a car but prefer not to drive directly into the park, you can drive to Naivasha and park your vehicle in a safe area. From there, hire a boda boda to take you to Hells Gate National Park. This option allows you to avoid parking fees at the park and enjoy a short ride while supporting local transport. Ensure you agree on the fare beforehand, which should be around 400 KES.
Use Hells Gate National Park as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
