Car
If you're driving from Mombasa, take the A14 road heading north. Continue on this route for approximately 115 km. As you approach Watamu, look for signs indicating Gede Ruins. Turn onto Gede Watamu Rd and drive for about 10 km. The ruins will be on your right, and there is parking available on-site. Expect to pay an entrance fee of approximately KES 600 for adults.
Public Transportation
From Mombasa, take a bus to Malindi from the main bus terminal (e.g., Mwembe Tayari). The bus ride will take about 2-3 hours. Upon reaching Malindi, board a local matatu (shared minibus) heading to Watamu. Inform the driver that you want to stop at Gede Ruins. The matatu ride should take around 20 minutes. The entrance fee for the ruins is approximately KES 600 for adults.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from your accommodation in Watamu or Malindi. The cost will vary based on your starting location but expect to pay around KES 1,500 to KES 2,500 for a one-way trip. The driver will take you directly to Gede Ruins, and you can arrange for them to wait for you while you explore.
