Car
If you are driving from Mombasa, take the A14 road heading north towards Kilifi. Continue on this road for about 45 kilometers. As you approach Kilifi, look for the signs directing you to Mnarani. Turn onto the B8 road, which will take you towards the coastline. Follow the B8 for approximately 5 kilometers, and then turn left onto a smaller road that leads directly to the Mnarani ruins. There is parking available near the site.
Public Transport
From Mombasa, you can take a matatu (shared taxi) heading to Kilifi. The fare is approximately 100-200 KES, depending on your starting point. The journey takes about 1-1.5 hours. Once you arrive in Kilifi, you can either walk to the Mnarani ruins, which is about 1.5 kilometers away, or take a local taxi for around 200-300 KES to the site. Make sure to ask the driver to take you to Mnarani ruins, as they are familiar with the location.
Bicycle
For the more adventurous, consider renting a bicycle in Kilifi. After arriving in Kilifi by matatu or car, you can rent a bike from one of the local shops. The ride to Mnarani ruins is approximately 5 kilometers along the coast, and it takes about 20-30 minutes. This route offers scenic views of the coastline, making it a pleasant journey. Remember to wear a helmet and follow local traffic rules.
