Be aware that you may encounter some rough patches on the road, so it's advisable to drive a vehicle with good clearance.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Ruma National Park using public transportation, start by taking a matatu (shared taxi) from Kisumu to Homa Bay. This journey will take around 1.5 to 2 hours. Upon arrival in Homa Bay, you will need to hire a taxi or find a local matatu heading towards Ruma National Park. Ensure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey. The taxi ride from Homa Bay to the park will take approximately 30 minutes. Expect to spend around KES 100-200 for the matatu from Kisumu to Homa Bay and KES 500-1000 for the taxi to the park.
