Getting There

Bicycle
If you are in Kisumu city center, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops. Start by heading north on Oginga Odinga Street, then take a left onto Kisumu-Busia Road (A1). Continue on this road for about 30 kilometers. Keep an eye out for the signs directing you to Kakamega Forest. Once you reach the entrance of Kakamega Forest, lock your bicycle and prepare for your adventure.

Matatu (Shared Minibus)
From Kisumu city center, head to the matatu stage located near Kenyatta Sports Ground. Look for a matatu heading to Kakamega. The fare is usually quite affordable. Inform the conductor you want to get off at Kakamega Forest. The journey will take around 45 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the Kakamega town, you may need to take a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) or walk to the entrance of the forest, which is approximately 10 kilometers from the town.
