  • Car

    If you are driving from the central Pokot Region, head towards Kitale. Follow the A1 road to Kitale town, which is well signposted. Once you reach Kitale, look for Mount Elgon Road, which will lead you to the entrance of Mount Elgon National Park. The park entrance is approximately 15 kilometers from Kitale town. Make sure to have a map or GPS enabled as the road can sometimes be confusing due to local traffic.

  • Public Transportation

    From any location in Pokot Region, you can take a matatu (shared taxi) to Kitale town. Matatus frequently depart from major towns, so you should not wait long for one. The fare is typically around 200-300 KES depending on the distance. Once you arrive in Kitale, you can either take another matatu or a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to Mount Elgon National Park. Inform the driver to take you to the entrance of the park, which is about 15 kilometers away from Kitale. Expect to pay around 100-200 KES for the boda-boda ride.

    If you are already in Kitale and want to reach Mount Elgon National Park, you can hire a boda-boda. Find a boda-boda stand near the town center or ask locals for directions to the nearest one.
