Continue on the dirt road towards the beach, which will lead you to Wiyoni Beach. Be prepared for some rough patches; a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. There is no designated parking at the beach, but you can park along the roadside.
Public Transport (Boda Boda)
From Lamu Town, you can take a local 'boda boda' (motorcycle taxi) to Wiyoni Beach. You can find boda bodas near the waterfront or main square. Negotiate the fare before you ride; it should cost around 200-300 KES (Kenyan Shillings) for a one-way trip. The ride takes approximately 15-20 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions.
Walking
For the adventurous, you can walk from Lamu Town to Wiyoni Beach. The distance is roughly 7 kilometers and will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Head towards Shela Village, following the coastline. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and carry water, as there are no shops on the way.
Boat Taxi
If you prefer a scenic route, consider taking a boat taxi from Lamu Town. Arrange for a boat at the harbor that can take you to a point near Wiyoni Beach. The cost varies depending on the boat and number of passengers but expect to pay around 1000-1500 KES per person. The boat ride will take about 30 minutes. You may need to walk a short distance from where the boat drops you off to reach the beach.
