If you are driving from Lamu Town, head towards the main road leading out of town. Follow the signs towards Kiongwe, which is approximately 10 kilometers away. As you reach Kiongwe, you will see signs for Mwambani. The exact location is at the coordinates JV79+86, Kiongwe. Look for a turn-off that leads towards a park area. Parking is usually available near the entrance.
Public Transportation
From Lamu Town, you can take a matatu (shared taxi) heading towards Kiongwe. The ride should take about 30 minutes. Make sure to ask the driver to drop you off at Kiongwe. Once you arrive in Kiongwe, you may need to walk a short distance to Mwambani. Alternatively, you can hire a local boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to take you directly to Mwambani from the matatu drop-off point. The cost for the matatu is typically around 100 KES, and the boda-boda ride should cost about 50-100 KES depending on the distance.
Walking
If you're already in Kiongwe, walking to Mwambani is a great option. From the main road, head towards the coordinates JV79+86. It is about a 15-20 minute walk. As you walk, enjoy the local scenery and ask locals for directions if needed. They are usually very helpful and friendly.
