Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in Lamu Town and want to reach Lamu Town Square, start from the Lamu Fort, which is a known landmark. Head east on the main street, known as the Lamu Old Town street. Continue straight for about 5 minutes until you reach a small intersection. At this intersection, turn left. You will see several shops and stalls along the way, which can serve as useful landmarks. After about another 3 minutes of walking, you will arrive at Lamu Town Square, which will be to your right.

    From the Lamu Museum, exit the museum and turn right. Walk along the waterfront, enjoying the views. Continue walking along the path for about 10 minutes. You will pass by several traditional Swahili houses and can ask locals for directions if needed. Once you reach the main street, turn left and walk for about 5 minutes. Lamu Town Square will be on your left, just past the shops.

    If you are near the Lamu Waterfront, walk towards the main street that leads into the town. From the waterfront, it will take you approximately 10 minutes to reach Lamu Town Square. As you walk, keep an eye out for traditional wooden dhows in the harbor. Once you reach the main street, continue straight for another 5 minutes. Lamu Town Square will be ahead, where you can enjoy the bustling atmosphere.
