Getting there

Walking

From the main street in Lamu town, head towards the waterfront. Follow the path along the shore until you reach the boat docking area. Look for the small boats (dhow) that operate between Lamu and Shela. Purchase a ticket for a short ride to Shela Beach. Once you arrive at Shela, disembark and walk along the beach path towards the village. Continue along the beachfront until you reach the main road through Shela. Turn left onto the main road and walk until you see the sign for 'Moyoni House' at PW48+C35. The house should be visible from the road.

Boat

From Lamu town, go to the boat docking area by the waterfront. Look for a local boat operator offering trips to Shela. Negotiate a fare and board the boat. The ride to Shela will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Once you reach Shela, you can either walk along the beach to Moyoni House or ask a local for directions. The address is PW48+C35, which is a short walk from the main beach area.

Bicycle (Rental)

If you prefer to cycle, rent a bicycle in Lamu town. Head towards the waterfront and follow the signs to Shela. The route is straightforward; you will cycle along the coastal path. Once you reach Shela, park your bike and walk to PW48+C35, where Moyoni House is located. This option allows you to enjoy the scenic views along the way.
