Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from Malindi Town Centre, head east on Lamu Road towards the junction with the main Malindi-Mombasa Road. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with the Malindi-Mombasa Road. Turn left onto the Malindi-Mombasa Road and walk for about 500 meters. You will pass several local shops and food stalls along the way. After approximately 500 meters, look for a small path on your right leading towards the beach. Follow this path, and it will take you directly to the Vasco da Gama Pillar, which is located right by the coastline.

Walking
From the Malindi Marine National Park entrance, walk towards the main road (Malindi-Mombasa Road). Once you reach the road, turn left and walk towards Malindi Town. After about 1 kilometer, look for the signs pointing towards Vasco da Gama Pillar. There will be a small path leading off to the right that will take you to the beachfront where the pillar is located.

Bicycle
If you have rented a bicycle, start from Malindi Town Centre. Ride east on Lamu Road until you reach the Malindi-Mombasa Road intersection. Turn left and ride for about 500 meters. Look for a path on the right that leads to the beach. You can park your bicycle securely near the entrance to the beach area. The Vasco da Gama Pillar is just a short walk from there.

Public Transport (Matatu)
Take a matatu from Malindi Town Centre heading towards Mombasa. Ask the conductor to drop you off at the Malindi-Mombasa Road junction. From there, walk back towards Malindi Town for about 500 meters. Look for the path on your right leading to the beach. Follow this path to reach the Vasco da Gama Pillar.
