Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from Malindi town center, head east on the main road (Lamu Road) towards the Malindi Marine National Park. Continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers until you reach the junction with Watamu Road. At this junction, turn left onto Watamu Road. Continue on Watamu Road for approximately 3 kilometers. You will pass by several local shops and eateries along the way. Keep an eye out for signs directing you to Gede Ruins. After about 3 kilometers, you will see a sign for Gede Ruins on your right. Follow the path leading into the site.

  • Bicycle

    Rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Malindi. Start by heading east on Lamu Road for about 1.5 kilometers, then take a left turn onto Watamu Road. Cycle along this road for about 3 kilometers, enjoying the scenic views of the coast. Look for the Gede Ruins sign on your right, which will guide you to the entrance of the site.

  • Motorbike Taxi (Boda Boda)

    Hail a motorbike taxi (commonly known as Boda Boda) from any point in Malindi town. Tell the rider you want to go to Gede Ruins.
