Follow the signs towards Kitale and continue on the Kwanza - Kapenguria Road. The Kitale Museum is located at 2274+95M, Kwanza - Kapenguria Road, Kitale. It is approximately a 1.5 to 2-hour drive depending on the exact starting point in the park. Make sure to have cash on hand for potential road tolls or fees along the way.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, you will first need to get to the nearest major town with a bus station, which is usually Kitale itself. From various locations in Mount Elgon National Park, you can take a matatu (shared minibus) to Kitale. Ensure that you confirm with the driver that they are heading to Kitale. Once you arrive in Kitale, you can either take a taxi or walk to the Kitale Museum located on Kwanza - Kapenguria Road. The taxi fare should be relatively low, typically around 200-300 KES.
