Car
If you are traveling by car, start from Nanyuki town. Take the Nanyuki-Meru road (A2) heading east. After approximately 30 kilometers, look for the signpost indicating the Chogoria route. Turn left onto the Chogoria road and continue for about 14 kilometers until you reach the main entrance to the Mount Kenya National Park. Ensure you have your park entry fees ready, which can be paid at the entrance.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, take a matatu (shared taxi) from Nanyuki town to Chogoria village. The matatus depart regularly from the Nanyuki bus station and the fare is usually around 200-300 KES. Once you arrive in Chogoria village, you can hire a local guide or a taxi to take you to the entrance of the Mount Kenya National Park, which is about 14 kilometers away. Be prepared for an additional cost for the guide or taxi, which could range from 1000-2000 KES depending on your negotiation skills.
Taxi
For a more direct route, you can also hire a taxi from Nanyuki to the Chogoria route entrance. This is a convenient option if you are traveling in a group. The taxi fare will typically be around 3000-4000 KES, and the journey will take approximately 1 hour. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your journey.
