Car
If you have access to a car, drive from Samburu Town heading north on the A2 highway. Continue for about 30 kilometers until you reach the junction for the C77 road towards Ololokwe. Turn left onto the C77 and follow the road for approximately 15 kilometers. You will reach the base of Mt. Ololokwe where you can park your car. From here, prepare for a hike to the summit.
Public Transportation
To reach Mt. Ololokwe using public transportation, first take a matatu (shared taxi) from Samburu Town towards Maralal. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the Ololokwe junction. The fare is typically around 200 KES. Once you arrive at the junction, you may need to hire a local taxi or arrange for a motorbike (boda boda) to take you the remaining 15 kilometers to the base of Mt. Ololokwe. The cost for a boda boda ride is usually around 500 KES. After reaching the base, prepare for your hike up the mountain.
Hiking
Once you arrive at the base of Mt. Ololokwe, ensure you have enough water, snacks, and proper hiking gear. The hike to the summit can take about 2-3 hours depending on your fitness level. Follow the marked trails and be cautious of the terrain. Enjoy the breathtaking views from the top and take your time to explore.
