If you are traveling by car, start from Lodwar, the main town in the Turkana Basin. Head southeast on the A1 highway towards Kitale for approximately 80 kilometers. After about 30 kilometers, take the left turn towards the B4 road. Continue on the B4 for about 50 kilometers until you reach the junction with the road leading to Kerio River. Follow the signs for Kerio River and drive for an additional 20 kilometers until you reach the river. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for rough terrain as some parts of the road may be unpaved.
Public Transportation
To reach Kerio River via public transportation, take a bus or matatu (shared taxi) from Lodwar to Kitale. The journey will cost approximately KES 500-600 and take about 2-3 hours. Once in Kitale, you will need to find another matatu heading towards the B4 road, which will cost around KES 300. Get off at the junction leading to Kerio River and hire a local taxi or motorbike for the last leg of your journey, which will cost about KES 500-800 for the ride to the river.
