Getting There

  • Car

    If you're driving from Bishkek, take the M41 highway towards Issyk-Kul Lake. After approximately 150 km, you will reach the town of Karakol. From Karakol, continue driving towards the direction of Altyn-Arashan. The road will lead you to a parking area near the entrance of the valley. Note that the last stretch of the road might be rough, so a 4x4 vehicle is recommended. There are no entrance fees for the valley itself.

  • Public Transportation

    From Bishkek, take a marshrutka (shared minibus) to Karakol. Marshrutkas leave from the Western bus station in Bishkek and the journey takes about 4-5 hours. Once you arrive in Karakol, you can hire a taxi to take you to the entrance of Altyn-Arashan, which is approximately 15 km away. The taxi fare should be around 300-500 KGS. From the drop-off point, you can either hike into the valley or arrange for a local guide to assist you.

  • Hiking

    If you prefer hiking, once you reach the parking area or the taxi drop-off point, follow the marked trail that leads into Altyn-Arashan. The hike is approximately 6-8 km and will take about 2-3 hours depending on your pace. Ensure you have proper hiking gear, water, and snacks for the journey.
