Car
If you're traveling by car, start from Attapeu town. Head southeast on Road 16B towards Sanamxay. After approximately 30 kilometers, you will reach the junction where you will turn left onto Road 18B. Continue for about 20 kilometers, and then look for signs indicating Nongmek Waterfall. The last stretch will require you to take a smaller road, which might be unpaved, leading directly to the waterfall. Ensure your vehicle can handle rough terrain.
Public Transportation
For those relying on public transportation, take a local bus from Attapeu to Sanamxay. Buses depart regularly from the central bus station. The fare is around 20,000 LAK (approximately $2.00). Once in Sanamxay, you can hire a tuk-tuk or a motorbike taxi to take you to Nongmek Waterfall. The tuk-tuk ride will cost you about 50,000 to 70,000 LAK (around $5 to $7). Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your journey.
Motorbike
For adventurous travelers, renting a motorbike in Attapeu town is a great option. Rental shops are available, and prices range from 70,000 to 100,000 LAK per day (approximately $7 to $10). Follow the same route as for cars, but you'll have the flexibility to explore the smaller roads leading to the waterfall. Be cautious of road conditions and wear a helmet for safety.
