Car
If you are driving from the center of Bokeo Province, head southeast on Route 13. Continue for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for Route 8. Turn left onto Route 8 and follow it for another 40 kilometers. Look for signs directing you to Kong Lor Cave (also known as Tham Kong Lor). The cave entrance is located just off the main road. There is usually parking available near the entrance.
Public Transportation (Mini-Bus)
From the main bus station in Bokeo Province, find a mini-bus heading towards Kong Lor. These buses typically leave every hour or so. The fare is around 25,000 LAK (about $2.50 USD). The journey takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Make sure to inform the driver you are going to Kong Lor Cave, as they will drop you off near the entrance. Once you arrive, you may have to walk a short distance to the entrance.
Motorbike Rental
For those who prefer a more adventurous route, consider renting a motorbike in Bokeo. The rental cost is approximately 80,000 LAK (about $8 USD) per day. From Bokeo, follow Route 13 southeast, then take Route 8 as detailed above. Riding a motorbike gives you the flexibility to explore the scenic surroundings. Ensure to wear a helmet and drive cautiously, as road conditions may vary.
Tuk-Tuk
You can also hire a tuk-tuk from your hotel or a local transportation hub. Negotiate the fare beforehand; typically, a round trip to Kong Lor Cave will cost around 150,000 to 200,000 LAK (approximately $15 to $20 USD). The tuk-tuk will take you directly to the cave entrance and wait for you to return. This option is great if you are traveling with a group.
