Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the capital of Houaphanh Province, Xam Neua. Head east on Route 6 for about 30 kilometers until you reach the town of Mường Xon. Once in Mường Xon, keep an eye out for signs directing you to TardKon Waterfall. The waterfall is located approximately 10 kilometers northwest of Mường Xon. The last stretch of road may be a bit rough, so drive carefully. There are no entrance fees for the waterfall, but it's a good idea to have some cash for any refreshments or local guides.
Public Transportation
To visit TardKon Waterfall using public transportation, first, take a local bus from Xam Neua to Mường Xon. Buses depart from the main bus station and the journey takes about 1 hour and costs approximately 15,000 LAK. Upon arriving in Mường Xon, you can hire a tuk-tuk or motorbike taxi to take you to TardKon Waterfall, which is about 10 kilometers away. The tuk-tuk ride may cost around 50,000 to 100,000 LAK depending on your negotiation skills. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting your journey.
Motorbike Rental
For the more adventurous travelers, consider renting a motorbike in Xam Neua. After renting, head east on Route 6 towards Mường Xon, which is about 30 kilometers away. Once you reach Mường Xon, follow the signs or ask locals for directions to TardKon Waterfall. The last leg is approximately 10 kilometers and may involve some unpaved roads, so be prepared for a bumpy ride. Rental prices for motorbikes typically range from 80,000 to 150,000 LAK per day, and ensure you have a helmet for safety.
