Inside, you'll discover a mesmerizing array of natural formations, including old stalactites encrusted with crystal deposits. The cave features chambers containing natural stone pools, dry formations, and wet-cave pearls.Spelunkers have mapped Kao Rao Cave for some 1,000 meters, and still haven't reached the end. The cave is generally well-lit, though power cuts can occur, so bringing your own light source is a good idea. Local guides accompany visitors, enhancing the experience with insights into the area's geological past. The surrounding area offers scenic views and opportunities for photography, with lush greenery and stunning rock formations.Kao Rao Cave provides a serene atmosphere that invites exploration and reflection. Tuk-tuk
From Vieng Phoukha, hire a tuk-tuk for a 12km ride to Ban Nam Eng. This is a common starting point for tours to Kao Rao Cave. Negotiate the fare beforehand, typically around 30,000 LAK. From Ban Nam Eng, a trained local guide will lead you on a trail to the cave.
Public Transportation
Take a local bus from Pak Beng to Pha Khao; buses run regularly, and the fare is approximately 15,000 LAK. From Pha Khao, hire a tuk-tuk or a motorbike taxi for about 30,000 LAK to the cave entrance, roughly 5 kilometers away. Negotiate the fare before starting your journey.
