    Phousi Hill is centrally located in Luang Prabang and easily accessible on foot from most areas. From the Royal Palace Museum, walk directly opposite to find the main stairway entrance. Alternatively, find the stairway next to the Nam Khan River. Both routes lead to the summit. Entrance fee is 20,000 Kip.

    Tuk-tuk

    If starting from outside the city center, a tuk-tuk is a convenient option. A short tuk-tuk ride to Phousi Hill should cost between 10,000 to 20,000 Kip. Negotiate the price before starting your journey. The driver can drop you off at either the Royal Palace Museum or the Nam Khan River entrance. Entrance fee to Phousi Hill is 20,000 Kip.

    Phousi Hill, meaning 'Sacred Mountain', stands as the spiritual and geographical center of Luang Prabang. Legend says a powerful Naga once dwelled within. For centuries, it has been a revered site, adorned with temples and shrines.The climb to the summit involves navigating over 300 steps on one of two stairways. The most popular route begins opposite the Royal Palace Museum, featuring 328 steps. The other, slightly longer route with 355 steps, starts near the Nam Khan River and offers scenic viewpoints and various Buddha images. Along the way, you'll find opportunities to purchase blessings and release caged birds for good luck, though the latter is discouraged due to animal cruelty.At the summit, Wat Chom Si, a temple with a 20-meter high golden stupa built in 1804 by King Anourat, offers a stunning 360-degree panorama. The sunsets from here are particularly renowned, casting a golden glow over Luang Prabang. The hill is open from 6:00 am to 7:00 pm, allowing visitors to enjoy both sunrise and sunset views. Phousi Hill has witnessed pivotal moments in Laos' history, embodying the enduring spirit of Lao culture.
