Getting There

  • Car

    If you are traveling by car, head towards the town of Vang Vieng, which is approximately 150 kilometers from Luang Prabang. Once in Vang Vieng, follow Route 13 south towards Naka. After about 7 kilometers, you will see signs for Nam Xay Viewpoint. Turn onto the road following the signs and continue for another 3 kilometers until you reach the parking area. Note that the last part of the road may be unpaved and can be rough, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Nam Xay Viewpoint via public transportation, start from Vang Vieng. You can take a tuk-tuk or songthaew (shared taxi) towards Naka. The ride will take about 15-20 minutes and cost around 20,000 LAK (Lao Kip) per person. Once you arrive at the drop-off point near the foot of the viewpoint, you will need to hike the remaining 1 kilometer to the viewpoint. The trail is well-marked but can be steep in places, so wear appropriate footwear.

  • Hiking

    After being dropped off by tuk-tuk or songthaew, begin your hike to Nam Xay Viewpoint. The trail is approximately 1 kilometer long, and it will take about 30 minutes to reach the top. The path can be steep and rocky, so be prepared for a bit of a workout. Bring water and be mindful of the weather as it can get hot during the day. The viewpoint is open from 6 AM to 6 PM, so plan your hike accordingly to enjoy the stunning views at the top.
