Car
If you are driving from the northern regions of Laos, take Route 13 south towards Vientiane. The journey will take approximately 7-10 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. Once you reach Vientiane, follow the signs to the city center. Once in the city, navigate to Xaysettha district and look for Pha That Luang, which is located at That Luang, Xaysettha 10009. Make sure to park in designated areas around the temple.
Bus
To travel by bus, head to the nearest bus station in Northern Laos, such as in Luang Prabang or Oudomxay. Look for a bus heading to Vientiane, which typically costs around 100,000 to 200,000 LAK (approximately $10-$20 USD). The journey will take around 10-12 hours. Upon arriving in Vientiane, you can take a tuk-tuk or a taxi to reach Pha That Luang. The fare for a tuk-tuk from the bus station to Pha That Luang is usually around 20,000 to 30,000 LAK ($2-$3 USD).
Tuk-Tuk
If you are already in Vientiane, you can hire a tuk-tuk to take you directly to Pha That Luang. Just tell the driver 'Pha That Luang' or show them the address: That Luang, Xaysettha 10009. The cost for this ride is typically around 30,000 to 50,000 LAK ($3-$5 USD), depending on your starting location in the city.
Bicycle
For the more adventurous tourists, renting a bicycle in Vientiane is a great way to explore the city. Many rental shops offer bikes for about 20,000 to 50,000 LAK ($2-$5 USD) per day. Pha That Luang is approximately 3 km from the city center, and you can reach it by cycling along the main roads. Follow the path towards the direction of That Luang and enjoy the scenery!
