Car
From Phou Bia, start your journey heading southwest on Road 8. Continue driving for approximately 20 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Road 13. Turn left onto Road 13 and drive for another 10 kilometers. You'll see a sign indicating the turn-off for Nam Xong viewpoint. Follow this road for about 5 kilometers until you reach the viewpoint parking area. Make sure to have a map or GPS device handy as some sections may not be well marked. There is no entry fee for the viewpoint.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, start by taking a local bus from Phou Bia to the nearest town on Road 8. The bus ride costs around 15,000 LAK and takes about 30 minutes. Once you reach the town, you will need to hire a tuk-tuk or a motorbike taxi to take you to Nam Xong viewpoint. Negotiate the fare in advance; it should be around 50,000 LAK for the trip. The tuk-tuk ride will take about 15-20 minutes. Ensure you inform the driver of your destination.
Walking
For the adventurous, you can walk part of the way to Nam Xong viewpoint. From Phou Bia, walk towards Road 8 and follow it southwest for approximately 5 kilometers. Once you reach the intersection with Road 13, you can either continue walking along the road or catch a local bus heading towards the viewpoint. Remember to wear comfortable shoes and carry enough water, as this part of the journey can be quite strenuous.
