Car
If you are driving to Don Det, start by heading towards the town of Nakasong. From there, take Route 13 south until you reach the ferry terminal. The ferry terminal is located at approximately 13.8664° N, 105.7865° E. Park your car at the terminal parking area (usually a small fee applies) and take a ferry to Don Det. The ferry ride takes about 15-20 minutes.
Public Bus
To reach Don Det by public bus, first take a bus from Pakse to Nakasong. Buses leave regularly from the Pakse bus station and the fare is typically around 30,000 LAK (3 USD). Once you arrive at Nakasong, head to the ferry terminal, which is a short walk from the bus drop-off point. Purchase a ferry ticket (approximately 10,000 LAK or 1 USD) and board the ferry to Don Det. The ferry ride takes about 15-20 minutes.
Tuk-Tuk
If you are already in the Si Phan Don area and want to avoid the hassle of public transport, you can hire a tuk-tuk to take you to the ferry terminal in Nakasong. The fare for this ride should be negotiated beforehand, but expect to pay around 50,000-80,000 LAK (5-8 USD). Once at the terminal, buy your ferry ticket and make the short journey to Don Det.
Boat Taxi
For a more direct route from nearby islands or locations in Si Phan Don, consider hiring a boat taxi. You can negotiate a price with local fishermen or boat operators. Prices can vary widely, but expect to pay around 100,000 LAK (10 USD) for a private boat that can take you directly to Don Det from locations like Don Khon or other nearby islands. The trip duration will depend on your starting point but usually ranges from 10 to 30 minutes.
