Getting there

Walking

If you are starting from the center of Vientiane, head east along Rue Setthathirath until you reach the intersection with Rue Chao Anouvong. Turn left onto Rue Chao Anouvong and continue walking for about 1.5 kilometers. You will pass several shops and cafes along the way. Keep an eye out for the large golden stupa in the distance, which is THATLUANG Temple. Once you reach the end of Rue Chao Anouvong, turn right onto Rue Thatluang, and follow the road until you see the entrance to the temple on your left.

Bicycle

If you prefer to rent a bicycle, start in the city center and head east along Rue Setthathirath. When you reach Rue Chao Anouvong, turn left and cycle for approximately 1.5 kilometers. The ride should take about 10-15 minutes. Stay on Rue Chao Anouvong, and as you approach THATLUANG Temple, keep an eye out for the large golden stupa. At the end of Rue Chao Anouvong, take a right onto Rue Thatluang, and you’ll find the temple entrance on your left.

Tuk-tuk

For a more local experience, you can take a tuk-tuk from almost any location in Vientiane. Simply tell the driver you want to go to THATLUANG Temple (or show them 'XJ5R+FVQ 098716432, Vientiane' on your phone). The ride should take around 15 minutes, depending on traffic. Most tuk-tuk drivers are familiar with the location, but it's always good to confirm the fare beforehand.

Public Bus

You can take a local bus to reach THATLUANG Temple. Look for the bus that heads towards the That Luang area; you may ask locals for the right bus number as it can change. Once on the bus, you will need to inform the driver or conductor that you are going to THATLUANG Temple. The bus ride will take approximately 20-30 minutes. Get off when you see the golden stupa; the temple entrance will be nearby.
