Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving, start from the center of Phonsavan, the capital of Xiangkhoang Province. Head northwest on Route 7 towards the town of Ban Lao. Continue on Route 7 for approximately 25 kilometers. Once you reach Ban Lao, look for the JGV4+XP coordinates on your GPS or a maps app. The Public hot spring is located just off the main road, and there are signs indicating the entrance. There is no entrance fee for the hot spring.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach the Public hot spring via public transportation, take a local bus from Phonsavan to Ban Lao. Buses leave regularly from the Phonsavan bus station. The journey takes about 45 minutes and typically costs around 10,000 LAK (Lao Kip). Once in Ban Lao, you can either walk to the hot spring, which is about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop, or hire a tuk-tuk for approximately 20,000 LAK to take you directly to the hot spring.

  • Tuk-Tuk

    If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a tuk-tuk from Phonsavan to take you to the Public hot spring. This option is more expensive, costing around 100,000 LAK for a round trip. Make sure to negotiate the price beforehand and confirm the driver will wait for you while you enjoy the hot spring.
