Car/Motorcycle
From Phonsavan, the capital of Xieng Khouang province, Tham Piew Cave is approximately 60 km away. The journey by car or motorcycle typically takes 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on road conditions and traffic. Head east on Route 7 towards Muang Kham. Once in Muang Kham, follow Route 6 north for 2 km to Ban Bouam, then turn left (west) and follow the road to its end. Look for signs indicating the direction to Tham Piew Cave. There is a parking area at the base of the mountain. Costs: Renting a motorcycle in Luang Prabang costs around 150,000 LAK per day. Gas costs will vary, but expect to pay around 20,000-30,000 LAK for a round trip.
