The Livonian Order Castle, the oldest part, was a state-of-the-art fortress for its time, designed specifically for the use of firearms. Today, its ruins showcase the defensive walls, towers, and lancet holes. Visitors can climb the central tower for panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.The newer section of the castle, the ducal residence, has been partially restored and now houses a museum. Here, you can explore exhibits detailing the castle's history, the lives of the Dukes of Courland, and military fortifications.     Public Transport

    From Riga International Bus Station, take a bus to Bauska. Buses depart at least twice an hour from Platform 6. The trip costs approximately €3.15 and takes around 1 hour and 15 minutes. From Bauska Bus Station, it is a 20-minute walk to the castle.

    Driving

    From Riga, take the A7 motorway (E67) towards Bauska, a drive of approximately one hour. Once in Bauska, follow signs to Pilskalna iela. Free parking is available near the museum.
